IN THE COMMUNITY
Bruce Palmieri stays active in his community through involvement with various organizations. Bruce is very active with Catholic Charities of Baltimore and serves on various committees including the Planned Giving Advisory Committee where he spent 2 years as chair from 2013 to 2015. He is also a founding member and active leader for the Phi Hexaton Educational Fund; a scholarship which honors Bruce’s deceased friends from college. The fund awards scholarships to Towson University students who exemplify ideals of the fraternity; Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Character. Bruce has also been an active member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) for 25 years and has been on the executive committee for 10 years, including President. In June 2018, Bruce received the highest honor from NAIFA-Maryland, the Paul J Murphy Award for long-term and dedicated service and was inducted into the NAIFA-Maryland Hall of Fame.
Gray Shannahan invests in local youth through his sponsorship of two girls softball teams; Maryland Fever and Maryland Patriots. In addition to supporting athletic programs, Gray also feels strongly about youth education. In early 2019 Gray volunteered at Holabird Middle School in Dundalk, MD to speak to the students about the importance of saving for college. Gray also offers financial support to the Yellow Ribbon Fund (an organization dedicated to helping service men and women who are returning home from active duty), and Loyola College of Maryland (his alma mater).
Supporting Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation
Bruce & Gray also actively support Northwestern Mutual’s philanthropic partner Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation through volunteering and fundraising. This organization is committed to providing support to children and families battling childhood cancer as well as funding research for a cure. In 2019 Palmieri & Shannahan's team raised over $10,000 for ALSF through donors and proceeds from lemonade stands in their community.
