He is also a founding member and active leader for the Phi Hexaton Educational Fund; a scholarship which honors Bruce’s deceased friends from college. The fund awards scholarships to Towson University students who exemplify ideals of the fraternity; Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Character. Gray Shannahan invests in local youth through his sponsorship of two girls softball teams; Maryland Fever and Maryland Patriots. In addition to supporting athletic programs, Gray also feels strongly about youth education. In early 2019 Gray volunteered at Holabird Middle School in Dundalk, MD to speak to the students about the importance of saving for college. Gray also offers financial support to the Yellow Ribbon Fund (an organization dedicated to helping service men and women who are returning home from active duty), and Loyola College of Maryland (his alma mater).
