Bruce Palmieri, a Baltimore native, moved back to the Baltimore area after attending a Student Exchange program at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He then graduated from Towson University with a degree in Business Administration. During college Bruce interned with companies in a variety of industries but became interested in Northwestern Mutual after becoming a client. He saw firsthand the quality of the company, the services, and the people behind them, and knew that it was the perfect place for him to begin his career. Bruce joined the company as a Financial Advisor in 1990 and has spent his years with the firm gaining valuable experience in all facets of the financial planning industry.
In 2018, Bruce took the next step in his career by combining practices with Gray Shannahan, CFP® to form Palmieri & Shannahan – a premier wealth management firm focused on creating thorough, personalized financial plans for each of their clients. Bruce, Gray, and their highly qualified team members share a passion for helping individuals, families, and businesses think through their goals and create a vision for their futures. Palmieri & Shannahan have over 35 years of combined experience in the financial industry.
Bruce is an active member of the Nation’s oldest and largest industry association, the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) where he has been a member for 25 years. Since 1998, Bruce has served on NAIFA’s Executive Committee. In 2016- 2017 Bruce served as the President of the Maryland chapter where he remains a board member today. In June 2018, Bruce received the Paul J. Murphy Award for Long Term and Dedicated Service (the highest honor available from NAIFA-Maryland) and was inducted into the chapter’s Hall of Fame.
Outside of the office, Bruce is active with Catholic Charities of Baltimore where he serves on various committees including the Planned Giving Advisory Committee. Bruce and his wife Tracy have taking their passion for helping others and started a Donor Advised Fund to support Catholic Charities of Baltimore with the Educational needs for the citizens of Maryland they serve. He is also a founding member and active leader for the Phi Hexaton Educational Fund, which honors deceased friends from college by awarding scholarships to Towson University students who exemplify ideals of the fraternity; Brotherhood, Scholarship, and Character.
Bruce lives in Cockeysville, MD with his wife Tracy. They have a daughter, Elizabeth, a son, Nathan, and 3 rescued hound dogs. Bruce spends his free time golfing, traveling and enjoying time with family and friends.
Gray Shannahan joined Northwestern Mutual as a Financial Advisor in January 2010, shortly after graduating from Loyola University Maryland with a degree in business. Gray is originally from Maryland’s Eastern Shore, but during his time at Loyola Gray fell in love with the Baltimore area and knew that it would be the ideal location to start his new career. Gray quickly took to the financial industry, earning awards and accolades early in his career as he established a client base in the Baltimore area.
As his knowledge and experience grew, Gray’s clientele expanded to include people hailing from Washington, DC to New York City and beyond. His location in downtown Baltimore makes it possible for Gray to maintain close working relationships with clients in cities up and down the East Coast. Gray specializes in working with families, individuals, and small business owners between the ages of 35 and 65 who work in professions such as medicine, finance, accounting, engineering, and law.
The one thing that all of Gray’s clients have in common is that they have a big vision for their futures and value Gray’s sound advice, professionalism, and holistic planning philosophy. Gray is a true professional who is committed to developing his knowledge and expertise to better serve his clientele. Gray has earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER (CFP®) professional designation, which makes him highly qualified to tackle the complex and varied financial needs and goals of his clients.

Gray’s favorite part of his job as an Advisor is seeing the life-changing results that a sound financial plan can help provide to his clients. He thoroughly enjoys watching his clients buy a home, send their children to college debt-free, or enter their retirement knowing that they are financially prepared. Gray understands that his clients depend on him to help them reach their goals, and he works hard each day to live up to the commitment that he makes to them.
Gray and his wife Danielle reside in the Brewers Hill neighborhood in east Baltimore with their two children, Graham and Ellie. Gray and Danielle enjoy visiting family, taking long walks along the Baltimore waterfront, and taking their son to play at The Maryland Science Center, Baltimore Zoo, and National Aquarium. Gray also loves playing golf with his friends and clients, exploring the Baltimore brewery scene, and supporting the Orioles, Ravens and Loyola Greyhounds. Gray is also very focused on his health and fitness and loves working out at his neighborhood CrossFit gym.
Bradley Nolan has been at Northwestern Mutual since 2011 and is focused on providing expert, creative, and comprehensive financial planning guidance and wealth management advice to our personal and business clients. He supervises investment operations, and coordinates with clients and other professionals to ensure an exceptional client experience.
Bradley holds his Series 7 & 66 Securities Licenses along with his Maryland Life, Health, and Long-Term Care Insurance licenses. He was born and raised in Maryland, and in his free time enjoys spending time out and about the state of Maryland with his wife and two children.
Joann Barber has over 10 years’ experience with Northwestern Mutual, joining the Baltimore team in 2016. Joann’s organizational skills are essential to the daily seamless operation of the financial planning practice. She provides clients with exceptional service with respect to any risk product applications, inquiries, or issues. As the Marketing Associate she specializes in the business development and the marketing strategies for the team.
Joann holds her Maryland Life and Health insurance license. She grew up in Southern California graduating from UCLA. She and her husband moved to Minnesota where they raised their two daughters. They relocated to Maryland in 2013 to be near their daughters. In her free time, Joann enjoys spending time with her family and participating in the Annapolis Chorale and community theatre.
Rachael Bell joined Northwestern Mutual in 2019. As the Director of Client Services for Palmieri & Shannahan, Rachael plays a key role in scheduling clients, servicing clients, and organizing the team’s schedule.
Rachael was born and raised in Howard County MD and holds a bachelor’s degree from Salisbury University. In her free time, Rachael enjoys spending time with her family and friends, running half marathons, going to the gym, and watching the Ravens and Orioles.
